Leaky Waders VP of Accounts Receivable Jake ( aka Sniper ) took some time off from managing the books to join me at the Black River last night. It was an enjoyable evening. Having 3 sons it is difficult to find one on one time so even thought I missed having the other 2 boys there last night it was quite a bit of fun fishing with Jake. I will admit that Jake and I used the dark side of the force last night and caught this on live bait and I don't mind a bit ( purists beware ! ). I have learned from my mistakes in the past. With my oldest son Quinn ( VP of Information technology ) it was fly fish or nothing! Soon after, he didnt want to pick up a fly rod for a couple of years. I found that an 9 year old may not want to stand in the same place for an hour without hooking a fish. Imagine that. If I can give you any advice, at an early age it does not matter how they fish, its that they want to go with you. So last night Jake and I made a deal. Once he landed 2 fish on live bait we would attempt to fly fish. He proceeded to fly fish for over and hour and a half. He hooked bottom, his hat, his sweater ( i hope his mom doesnt find the hole ), grass, rocks, sticks, his waders, me, and some innocent bystanders. I laughed the entire time.
So, I have got some great reports of the stocked browns rising to flies. A friend of mine did well on Parachute Hendricksons Thursday evening. This is a great video to follow.
